Conferenza Stato Città ed Autonomie Locali of Italy Hacked, Site Databases Leaked Online

Earlier this week the City State Conference and Local Autonomies authority of Italy was hacked and defaced by LulzSecITA, essentially in protest of a perceived lack of change once promised by legislators appointed in the March 2018 national elections. In a posting to their website dated January 16th 2019, the hackers released mirrored files and file folders contained within a 2005 Microsoft SQL Server hosted on a Windows version 8.1 Operating System (OS). Included in the leak was access to the websites administrator panel, along with the passwords of 2 site administrators granting access to 91 site databases.

However, it must be noted that since the time of the leak, the URL address attached to the websites admin login page has since been changed – as to hide the information from the general public. In a message attached to the hack, LulzSecITA also aimed the following message at elected officials:

You promised to cut salaries and decided to thin out the parliament. You wanted to open the Chamber and Senate like a tuna box, yet months have passed and those promises remain nothing more than a distant memory.

Promises, promises and even more promises, but nothing concrete ever comes from your actions. You proposed yourself as the “CHANGE,” yet the only change was the owner of the chair, on which you are now firmly glued to so “honorably.”

It is for this reason that we decided to pay tribute to you here today, reminding you of one of the many public bodies to which no one thinks highly of anymore, the State-City Conference.

An organ born with the noble and precise aim of bringing Mayors and
Presidents of Provinces closer to the state bodies. Yet evidently today remains obsolete and not in working practice, especially given the obvious problems of countless Italian municipalities which are always heard from but never assisted by the residents of the capital – yourselves.

“They have divided my garments among them, and they have drawn my tunic.”
